Gulper Shark
A great specimen of a Gulper Sharks Jaws (centrophorus granlosus). This Gulper shark Jaws measures 5.75 inches by 3.5 inches.
This Gulper Shark Jaw has 5 rows of teeth on the lower jaw and 5-6 rows on the upper jaw. The upper jaw also shows two rows standing with a third in rotation & two rows standing on the lower jaw.
The Gulper Shark is of the Order Squaliformes which contain 113 species divided into seven families. These are known as dogfish, bramble sharks, gulper sharks, velvet sharks, plunket sharks, kitefin sharks, tail light sharks, pygmy sharks, cigar sharks, cookie cutter sharks, lantern sharks, sleeper sharks, spurdogs, Greenland sharks, and rough sharks. The body is almost cylindrical, with a conical snout. There are two dorsal fins, with or without spines, and no anal fin. There are five gill slits, a spiral valve in the intestine, and nictitating membranes on the eyes. They range all over the globe from the Arctic to Antarctic, from the surface down to over 20,000 ft. They range in size from less than 8 in to over 20 ft.
